The concept for this shoot was inspired by "The Four Loves," a book by C.S. Lewis where he explores the philosophical nature of love. Each of the 4 looks in this shoot correspond with one of the "loves": Eros, Philia, Storge, & Agape.
– Eros: the romantic love. The sense of being in love, it’s an extremely profound experience, that seeks one and only one person. It is the love that is least thought about, but most felt.
– Philia: the friend bond. It exists between those who share common values, interests or activities. The “least biological, instinctive, and necessary... the least natural” (but considered a higher-level love, because it is freely chosen).
– Storge: the empathy bond. The most emotive and natural love. It is the liking of someone through fondness of familiarity: such as the bond between a parent and child.
– Agape: unconditional love. The selfless love that Lewis considered the greatest of the four. It exists regardless of changing circumstances, and asks nothing in return. It is primarily a love of the will, and not reliant on emotion.
